Acute otitis media (AOM) affects about 11% of people, approximately 325 to 710 million cases worldwide a year, according to Wikipedia. Half of these cases involve children less than five years. 31 millions develop chronic suppurative otitis media, and 60% experience significant hearign loss.

High Rate - in Rural Areas
A study conducted by researchers from Maulana Azad Medical Collefe in India compared the prevalence of Otitis Media in different parts of the cities in Delhi India. Findings show that 4.6% of the children living in non-slum parts of the city had otitis media, compared to 7% of chidren in the rural area and around 9.9% living in the urban slums.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), about 70% of donated medical equipment is unusable in most developing countries; the main issues inclue:
